Las Vegas police investigate 'active shooter' reports

Las Vegas strip shut down after reports of gunfire with 'several' people being treated for gunshot wounds.

Las Vegas police rushed to the scene of a shooting at the city's famous gambling strip as several victims with gunshot wounds were taken to a hospital.
Dozens of patrol vehicles descended on the Vegas Strip after authorities received reports of an active shooter near a music festival late on Sunday.
Some officers took cover behind their vehicles while others carrying assault rifles ran into the Mandalay Bay Hotel and Casino.
University Medical Center spokeswoman Danita Cohen said the Las Vegas hospital is treating "several" people for gunshot wounds. She didn't have any more immediate information.
One Twitter user posted the hotel was on lockdown, while another - citing police scanners - posted there were two shooters on the 32nd floor of the hotel who had shot at a bodyguard and police.
Authorities could not be reached to confirm those details.
Video posted shows a crowd of panicked people huddling together on the street outside of the hotel as automatic weapon fire rang out.
